After four years of reconstruction, the Ågenskalns market pavilion will be opened

After four years of reconstruction, on May 7, the historical pavilion of the Āgenskalns market will open its doors to visitors, where up to 70 farmers and homemakers will trade on the first floor. At the Ågenskalns market, you will be able to meet both well-known and brand-new producers – for the first time in Pārdaugava you will be able to visit the “Valmiermuiža beer embassy”, dairy products will be offered by “Straupes piens”, fresh bread will be available to buy from the bakeries “Lāči” and “Grauda saks”, there will be a wide selection of fish and meat range of products from small producers. On the other hand, on the second floor you will be able to have a meal and enjoy drinks in the atmosphere of the market. Bar “VEST”, coffee roasters “Kalve Coffee” and pizzeria “Vīnkalnu” will be located here. The vision of Ågenskalns market is an inclusive, versatile and environmentally friendly public space where cultural, educational and various other events will take place in partnership with neighborhood and city organizations. With the opening of the pavilion, the “Youth Station” supported by “Swedbank” will also be opened in the Āgenskalns market – an innovative educational center and collaborative environment for young people, where they can meet representatives of various industries at interdisciplinary events, get acquainted with the opportunities offered by modern professions, gain knowledge and learn new skills. “Youth station” will promote entrepreneurship, action, the emergence of innovations and stimulate the desire to learn. Ågenskalns market also participates in the IN-HABIT project of the EU program “Horizon 2020”, which promotes sustainable development through inclusive health and the market as the central place of the neighborhood. The project envisages a new thing in the city – a co-creation kitchen, where educational events about a healthy lifestyle and environmental awareness will be held.
