However, this year the theme of apartments dominates – a series of high-quality and architecturally interesting projects are offered to residents of Riga with different desires and purchasing power in different areas and neighborhoods of the city. The best examples of housing prove that there are no inappropriate places, and the quality of the project’s architecture is determined only by the professionalism of the authors in the specific context, offering something more than the “euro per square meter” ratio of the price. It can be seen that there is a huge potential for the quality of the urban environment, public health and economy in the market of Riga’s housing improvement and development projects. Therefore, by awarding the Award of the Year to an apartment building – architecturally interesting, of course quite exclusive, but at the same time one that is able to maintain a balance between private and public outdoor space, I would like to commend not only the authors of the specific project, but also colleagues and clients who put in more effort, so that housing projects have as much added value as possible both for their first users and neighbors, as well as for future users for several more generations,” emphasizes G. Princis. This year, traditionally, “Public recognition” was also presented to the building, which was positively evaluated by the most visitors on the Facebook site of the Riga City Architect’s Office. This year, the client SIA “RENAMS” received the “Public recognition for saving Riga’s most fragile heritage – a wooden building – in the Torņkalns building” for the renovation of a low-rise apartment building on Altonavas Street 2.
