Why use the stairs instead of the elevator on a daily basis?

This is an important factor that can influence the desire of customers to buy an apartment. However, there are enough properties in homes that do not have elevators. Why choose a house without an elevator? What are the benefits of not using an elevator? A sedentary lifestyle continues to be one of the most dangerous habits of modern society. According to research, 59% of Europeans rarely or never do sports. Today, however, a large part of society pays attention to the existence of stairs and tries to use them instead of the elevator. This is largely attributable to a healthy way of life and a healthy daily rhythm. Being in shape does not always mean going to the gym, a healthy everyday life and an active lifestyle are quite enough. Stairs are one of the great helpers for keeping yourself in shape. For some, it’s even a new year’s sports resolution, many use the stairs to save time instead of waiting for the elevator. In order to promote changes in society, the International Sports and Culture Association (ISCA) also organizes the campaign “European Staircase Day”. The campaign takes place throughout Europe, and during it every citizen is invited to think about their health and use opportunities to move more everyday, such as elevators and escalators. You don’t have to climb several floors at once, you can start slowly by climbing one, then three. The Latvian National Library also participates in this campaign and invites library visitors to use the stairs instead of the elevator. Every day we have the opportunity to make a healthy choice: today – to take the stairs instead of taking the elevator, tomorrow – to prefer fresh fruits and vegetables instead of sweets with salt and sugar.
